David Carter

I lead four of Uberall's engineering and technology teams: DevOps, IT, Business Intelligence and Growth Engineering. I also own the company's information security and compliance, end to end.

I joined in 2013 as the founding frontend engineer. The company grew, and so did the job.

What I do

• Security and compliance

  I took the company through SOC 2 Type II and run the whole program: GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, vendor risk, and the security reviews customers put us through.

• Engineering leadership

  I hire and grow engineering leaders, and I've integrated several acquired engineering teams, people and systems alike.

• Infrastructure and cost

  I own the infrastructure and software budget, and I've cut infrastructure spend while keeping availability well above our SLAs.

• AI-native engineering

  With the rest of the engineering leadership team, I'm pushing us toward AI-native work: agentic coding workflows, new tooling and new ways of shipping, across every team.
